What will the impact of the Data Centre Shutdown be?
On both occasions, access to almost all Cardiff Met IT services to both staff and students both from home and on campus will be unavailable

Services unavailable:

    • All Cmet account logins.
    • Cmet O365 services, such as Outlook and Office,
    • OneDrive and Teams.
    • All corporate business systems, including ABW, iTrent, the website, SharePoint and the Student System,
    • Moodle and timetabling, and all other Cmet systems used to teach and learn,
    • Systems will need to be tested by system owners after each shutdown.
General Internet services that are not connected to your Cardiff Met account and available from home, should still function normally.

Services that will continue functioning are limited to:

    • Emergency phones in elevators.
    • Learning Centre Tannoy systems.
    • Cyncoed telephone should work individually to make and receive calls, but won't have access to any of the features, incl. groups and voicemail.
    • Guest wi-fi should work at Cyncoed,
    • Tills at Cyncoed.
    • CCTV feeds in Cyncoed should be functioning, but work on viewing the feeds may be required.
    • Cyncoed network.

How can I prepare?

A Daily Digital micro-webinar will be held on Tuesday 7th December at 12:00. It will explore how staff can prepare for the shutdown by making resources available to students in alternative ways and how students can prepare for the shutdown by downloading essential resources in advance.
