The IT training schedule for staff for the Spring Term includes two Photoshop courses, a double dose of Qualtrics training and a host of other courses.
Last term the newly introduced Preparing Images with Photoshop course proved very popular with trainees, though feedback did suggest more time and more content would be beneficial. We agreed and have added a second course, Preparing Images with Photoshop – Level 2 to our catalogue. The new course covers more tools to further enhance your images, such as masks, layer styles and adjustment layers. We recommend attending both courses to get a full appreciation of the fundamentals of Photoshop, but the courses are sufficiently self-contained to attend just one.
There are two instances of the Designing Effective Surveys with Qualtrics course on the spring schedule, reflecting the popularity Cardiff Met's survey platform. The two-session course covers the full gamut of Qualtrics concepts, from planning your survey to distributing and analysing the results.
A full programme of SharePoint training is scheduled for this term:
- Getting Started with SharePoint 2010 – recommended for all staff, this course covers crucial document management concepts such as searching, uploading and using document management features like version history and properties. There are two sessions scheduled, one in January and one in March.
- Team Site Admin with SharePoint 2010 – is a course for any SharePoint administrator, from School or Unit sites to small project sites, the concepts are the same. Learn how to: create sites, edit pages, use lists (such as Announcements and Tasks) and libraries and set appropriate permissions.
- Efficient Admin with SharePoint 2010 – is for administrators who want to start making SharePoint work for them. Learn how SharePoint features such as metadata, views, custom lists and workflows can be tailored to how you and your team work.
- Administering your SharePoint Team Site - Workshop – put your skills into practice by developing your actual SharePoint team sites, with expert help available if you need it.
Presenting with Prezi explores how PowerPoint alternative, Prezi, can be used to create engaging and dynamic presentations. Prezi's expansive canvas makes it possible to deliver content in innovative ways; learn how by attending this course.
Finally, learn how to better organise, analyse and present data by attending one (or both!) of our Excel courses. Foundation Excel 2013 starts with the basics; entering and formatting data, then progresses onto using formulae and functions, sorting and charting data. Intermediate Excel 2013 focuses primarily on interpreting and presenting data; learn how to filter, use Tables and PivotTables and conditionally format data.
