The schedule for the Summer Term includes Excel and Outlook training courses that have been revamped for Office 2013, a new ShoreTel course and perennial favourites such as Presenting with Prezi.
Microsoft Office 2013 is now the preferred version of the productivity suite for Cardiff Met PCs. As such our Office training courses have been updated for the latest version.
- Foundation Excel 2013 aims to give you the skills you need to organise and format your data effectively. Topics include: cell and number formatting, formulae, functions and useful tools such as sort. Integrated into the course is an exploration of new Excel 2013 features, like Quick Analysis and Recommended Charts.
- Intermediate Excel 2013 focuses on analysing and presenting data. It examines Excel Tables, the filter tool and how to use conditional formatting to present data in a way that reflects its value. New Excel 2013 topics include Recommended PivotTables and Timelines.
- Communicating Effectively with Outlook 2013 examines new and underutilised tools, such as Quick Steps and Search Folders, which can help you manage your emails, meetings and tasks more efficiently.
In the same vein as Communicating Effectively with Outlook 2013 is Communicating Effectively with…ShoreTel! This bite-sized course will help you get to grips with ShoreTel phones and software. Again, this course will explore powerful features that many staff aren't aware of, such as setting your status, integrating voicemail into Outlook, conference calls and Homeworking.
Designing Effective Surveys with Qualtrics focuses on designing, creating and distributing surveys with our new survey software, Qualtrics. Qualtrics, which is available to all staff and students, offers a feature-rich, user-friendly platform for creating surveys. Our training session examines, in detail, the tools available and will give you the skills you need to capture data effectively.
Also returning this term is Presenting with Prezi, which looks at how Prezi can be used to create dynamic, engaging presentations. Learn how to fully exploit the "zoomable canvas", use images to create highly visual presentations and utilise frames to tell your story.
The Information Management @ Cardiff Met series makes a return with Getting Started with SharePoint 2010 kicking-off the series, this introductory course to our document management and collaboration platform, Microsoft SharePoint, is recommended to all staff.
The series progresses with two sessions aimed at SharePoint administrators:
- Team Site Admin with SharePoint 2010 – looks at the essential tasks a SharePoint administrator has to undertake, such as creating new sites and libraries, adding team site content and administering permissions.
Efficient Admin with SharePoint 2010 – builds upon the first session and explores further SharePoint features that can improve the way teams communicate and collaborate. Topics include: columns and views, wikis and forums, advanced permissions, and workflows.
