The IT training schedule for this term includes sessions on Qualtrics, Outlook, Prezi, a full SharePoint training programme and a new course for Windows 10 users.
Following a successful Early Adopter programme, the Windows 10 rollout continues. To help staff with the transition, we have developed a Working with Windows 10 course. The course naturally looks at Windows 10 features that will make working with a PC a little bit easier, such as an improved Start menu, Task View and File Explorer. But it also explores additional, integral, software that is part of the new environment, such as the business versions of OneDrive and Skype, and Office 365.
Presenting with Prezi explores how the popular Prezi platform can be used to create engaging, highly visual presentations. The course starts with the basics (such as adding images and videos) then progresses on to look at how the expansive canvas, frames and paths can be used to deliver interesting, non-linear presentations.
Communicating Effectively with Outlook 2013 aims to help you make small, but frequent, time savings by exploiting underutilised Outlook features, such as Flags and Tags, Quick Steps and Search Folders. So, if you're looking to manage your email, calendar and tasks a bit more efficiently, this is the course for you.
Cardiff Met's survey software, Qualtrics, had a facelift over the summer and so too did our course, Designing Effective Surveys with Qualtrics. The two-morning course covers the new interface and features together with fundamentals such as survey planning, question types, logic and reporting.
The Preparing Images with Photoshop courses look at essential skills required to work with images. Whether you use images in presentations, handouts, the web or social media, these courses will help you get your images looking great. The Level 1 course covers: resizing, retouching, exporting, layers and selection tools. Level 2 topics include: grouping and aligning layers, layer styles, masks and adjustment layers.
Rounding off the schedule is a full programme of training on our document and content management platform, SharePoint:
- Getting Started with SharePoint 2010 is targeted at all staff, it explores how and why we use SharePoint to store and manage documents. Topics covered include: searching, uploading documents, team sites and document management tools such as Version History.
- Team Site Admin with SharePoint 2010 is for staff who administer a SharePoint team site, large or small. Learn how to: customise team sites, use lists such as Announcements and Tasks, configure document libraries and set appropriate permissions.
- Efficient Admin with SharePoint 2010 looks at how SharePoint can be optimised for you and your team. Find out how features such as columns, views, forums, wikis and workflows can be used to make communication and collaboration easier.
- Administering your SharePoint Team Site is a workshop session designed to help you put what you have learnt into practice, with expert support available to help you out.
