The learning centres house library services, helpdesks, collections and spaces. 

Cyncoed Library

The library in Cyncoed Learning Centre houses a variety of resources to support students studying Education and Sport.

Spaces and Collections

The School Experience collection contains books, resources and CDs for children aged between 3-16. It is primarily for students studying on initial teacher education courses but is open to all Cardiff Met staff and students.

Our Research Room It is equipped with Apple Macs and is ideal for quieter study. It also houses our Print Journal Collection.         

We have group and quiet study areas dotted throughout the two floors with extra PCs downstairs. They are great for those times when you want to quickly print something off or check an email.         

We have bookable study rooms, each equipped with a PC and large display screen as well as plenty of chairs and tables. They are suitable for almost anything (except parties, singing or dancing).

The large IT Suite includes PCs and Apple Macs alongside the IT support desk with two extra rooms (B1.01 & B1.10) providing 24 hour IT access outside of our opening hours.

Our Study Suite provides extra PCs for those times when the IT Suite is full to the brim. We also send our Walk-in Access visitors there as they can get a bit of peace.

We also have a newly-created Welsh Collection area. Welsh Language books can be found here.  The collection contains materials related to Wales in general, but also materials related to teaching in Wales.

Llandaff Library

Llandaff Learning Centre houses collections that support the Schools of Art & Design, Health Sciences and Management.

Special Collections

In addition to the main book and journal collections, Llandaff Learning Centre also houses several special collections, including the Slide Library, Artists’ Books Collection, the Ceramics collection and the Clinical Practice Collection.


The newly refurbished Research Room is ideal for quieter study. It is equipped with study desks and Apple Macs.

The Social Learning Lounge is where you are welcome to chat to friends, have group discussions, use mobile phones and eat cold snacks.

We have quiet study areas located throughout the building, which are suitable for quiet study and group work.

For times when you want to work undisturbed, we have a silent study area. Please keep noise to a minimum in this area.

Bookable study rooms are located throughout Llandaff Learning Centre and are ideal for students looking for somewhere quieter to study alone or in groups.

The IT suite includes PCs and Apple Macs. You will also find the IT support desk in this space to assist with any IT problems or queries.

We have 24-hour access areas for you to use when the library is closed. The 24 hour area and IT suite is located in the concourse area of the library.

There are also PCs, Apple Macs, scanners, printers and photocopiers for general use throughout the Learning Centre.
